Ben's multi-disciplinary practice which includes, but not limited to, painting, video and photography references personal narratives, humour and art politics. Often the work has the capacity to be playful and acerbic at the same time, incorporating traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques, sometimes resulting in a critique on art itself. Often veiled but sometimes confrontational, the work raises questions on aesthetic, art-political and social conventions. Ben's work is metaphorical often including literal and visual components such as objects laced throughout installations and paintings. The objects and colour underscore the identity and meanings of each piece and his practice as a whole. Ben is interested in bringing context to objects in art in a psychological and aesthetic way whilst exploring a personal narrative.
